VSU’s newest academic journal called the Review of Socio-Economic Research and Development Studies (ReSERDS) is now getting more international attention as 29 universities in the United Kingdom have cataloged it in their library collection of peer-reviewed publications.

On the 50th year of the declaration of Martial Law in the Philippines, roughly 500 students gathered at the RDE Hall to attend a film screening of Dekada ‘70, an award-winning Filipino historical drama that followed the story of a middle-income family under the 20-year rule of former President Ferdinand E. Marcos.

Viscans waited for more than two and a half years for the return of face-to-face classes. And the university did not disappoint in providing them a very warm welcome that gathered more than 5,000 students inside the newly expanded VSU Gymnatorium.

The Visayas State University through the Philippine Root Crops Research and Training Center (PhilRootcrops) continues to pursue inclusive development by facilitating extension projects that provide opportunity to conflict-affected areas. 

The National Coconut Research Center (NCRC) in the Visayas is now the third unit within the VSU system to serve as a Shared Service Facility (SSF) for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

In a time when we were asked to lock ourselves in our respective homes, we relied so much on social media to seek information about the pandemic, including for entertainment mainly to reduce our stress and anxiety brought by COVID-19.
