#GoingGlobal: IHK faculty wins best paper in sports for dev’t forum in Indonesia

Among the 25 presented studies, Dr. Louie P. Gula, a faculty member of the VSU Institute of Human Kinetics (IHK), won the best paper award at the 8th International Conference of Sports for Development and Peace (ICSDP) in Indonesia.
Dr. Gula shared his paper “Health and skill-related physical fitness tests: An assessment in determining the students’ physical fitness level,” which talks about the comprehensive evaluation and implementation of health and skill-related physical fitness tests as pre-assessment tools for assessing students' physical fitness levels.
His study shows how body composition affects fitness and highlights the importance of creating personalized physical activity programs focusing on each person's unique strengths and weaknesses to improve overall health and fitness.
Dr. Gula recently finished his doctorate degree in education with a major in educational management at the National University Philippines. Among his research interests are teacher education discipline, basic education curriculum, physical education, art education, music education, and English language.
The ICSDP is held twice a year between July and November and offers a space for discussions on sports, physical education, and physical activity.
This conference is organized by the Sport Education Study Program, School of Postgraduate of Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia in Bandung, Indonesia.
