The National Abaca Research Center-Visayas (NARC) housed at VSU, earned research funding after the visit of Dr. Reynaldo V. Ebora, executive director of the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCAARRD), at VSU, January 5.

Researchers from the Philippine Root Crops Research and Training Center (PhilRootcrops) at VSU revealed for the first time the effect of the phytoplasma disease or the witch's broom on the physiological functions of the cassava root crop known scientifically as Manihot esculenta.
