For the second time, 11 accreditors from the Accrediting Agency for Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) will evaluate nine areas in VSU’s institutional functions starting today, March 28, to April 1.
Led by AACCUP Founding President and Executive Director Dr. Manuel Corpus, the accreditors will assess VSU’s governance, management, teaching, learning, and evaluation schemes, faculty and staff development programs, and research, extension, and consultancy activities.
Library, support to students, infrastructure and other learning resources, and quality assurance culture are also among the nine areas that will be evaluated.
Dr. Corpus will be joined by Dr. Maria Glenda De Lara of the Philippine National University, Dr. Myrna Mallari of Tarlac State University, Dr. Danilo Hilario of Bulacan State University, Dr. Marcela Caluscosin of Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University, Dr. Noralyn Natura of Nueva Vizcaya State University, and Dr. Luzviminda Rodrin of Cavite State University. AACCUP members Dr. Divinagracia De Guzman, Prof. Marina Quesada, Mr. Samuel Chinaman, and Mr. Dominic Martinez will also sit in the team of institutional accreditors.
VSU underwent the first-round of institutional accreditation on November 21-26, 2010. After earning a mean of 3.54 out of a perfect rating of 5, the AACCUP Board led by Dr. Corpus had granted VSU a Level II status on June 15, 2011 which remained valid until June 16, 2016.
VSU attained a satisfactory rating in all nine areas. The university’s faculty programs, research activities, support to students, infrastructure and learning resources, and governance and management strategies received the highest ratings.
The second-round institutional accreditation will formally start on March 28 at the VSU Convention Center.
