The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) recently released the results of the September 2012 Geodetic Engineer Licensure Exam, the September 2012 Chemist Licensure Exam, the August 2012 Veterinarian Licensure Exam, the August 2012 Forester Licensure Exam, the July 2012 Agriculturist Licensure Exam, and the June 2012 Nursing Licensure Exam.

The Visayas State University (VSU) and the Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice) recently entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in pursuit of the goals and objectives of the two institutions' rice R&D programs. Both parties agreed to collaborate extensively on rice research, training, communication, extension, and human resource development projects.

The Agriculture and Education Programs of the Visayas State University (VSU) with Level III Re-Accredited Status accorded by the Accrediting Agency for Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) were subjected for Level IV (Phase 1) Accreditation by the same accrediting agency. The AACCUP Accreditation Team evaluated the seven programs both in the Undergraduate and Graduate Levels of VSU's Agriculture and Education Programs on September 10-14, 2012.

After the Visayas State University (VSU) has been awarded on August 14, 2009 by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) as the National University/College for Agriculture and Fisheries (NUCAFs) under the National Agriculture and Fisheries Education System (NAFES) of Republic Act (RA) 8435, otherwise known as the Agriculture and Fisheries Modernization Act of 1997, two NAFES Evaluation Teams visited the VSU Main Campus and the VSU-Tolosa Campus on September 6-7, 2012.

Hon. Walden F. Bello, Akbayan Partylist Representative, served as the guest speaker during the 31st Anniversary Convocation Program of the Institute for Strategic Research and Development Studies (ISRDS) on September 21, 2012 at the ISRDS Training Room. Hon. Bello was a political activist during the Martial Law period and he coordinated the Anti-Martial Law coalition and established the Philippine Human Rights Lobby in Washington D.C.

The Visayas State University conducted two seminar-workshops in response to the President of the Philippines', Benigno Simeon C. Aquino III, Executive Order No. 80 series of 2012 directing all government employees to adopt the Performance-Based Incentive System.

Dr. Jose L. Bacusmo, VSU President, has been invited by the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCAARRD) to speak on the topic "Generating and Managing Resources for R&D" during the training course on "Enhancing Effectiveness and Impact of R&D: The Role of Managerial Leadership." The training was held on September 24-28, 2012 at the Bulwagang Panday Karunungan in PCAARRD, Los Baños aimed at developing a cadre of effective manager leaders who could steer research functional units/programs, while unlocking the potential of others to achieve the intended results.
