VSU grad lands 10th in agriculturist board exam

The Philippine Regulations Commission (PRC) announced the list of the successful examinees of the 2017 Agriculturist Licensure Examination, May 5, including a BS in Agriculture graduate from VSU, Miguel Francisco Basilio Abulencia who landed in the 10th place.
Abulencia, a Soil Science major got an 84% rating and shares the 10th spot with other successful examinees from Ifugao State University, Central Luzon University and UP Los Banos.
During the examination held on April, 21 graduates, 12 first timers and nine (9) repeaters from VSU-Main campus passed, earning the university an institutional passing rate of 53.8%. VSU Alang-alang also earned three (3) new agriculturists (33.33%), while Villaba and Isabel campuses got one passer each with 20.0% and 50.0% passing rate, respectively. The national passing average was 31.55%.
Abulencia who hails from Guiuan, Eastern Samar, received his bachelor degree in 2014. Come June this year, he will be finishing his master’s degree in Soil Science.
Abulencia, on a phone interview, told that he only did a self-review prior to the examination. “My plan after the board is just to surf, farm, and if given the chance, to teach,” he added.
“I dedicate this feat to our Mother Earth,” said Abulencia.
The result was released four (4) working days after the examination. A graduate from Central Luzon State University tops this batch’s licensure examination.
