Three Development Roundtable Series (DRTS) Towards Shared Understanding and Common Action integrative papers were launched on February 6, 2012 at the Training Hall of VSU's Institute for Strategic Research and Development Studies (ISRDS).

Sixty-six researchers/scientists from the different government agencies, academic institutions, and private firms in the country rubbed elbows on January 30-31, 2012 during the National Rootcrop RDE Validation Workshop held at the VSU’s Philippine Rootcrop Research and Training Center (PhilRootcrops) Training Hall.The two-day convergence of public and private stakeholders was meant to know the various government programs on root and tuber crops for improved coordination and collaboration, address specific objectives, and improve institutional, industry, and producer partnerships in relation to rootcrop industry.

The excitement is over. Big smiles and proud faces are what you see among VSU administrators, faculty, staff and students after the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) released on February 15, 2012 the results of the December 18-19, 2011 Nursing Licensure Examination.

Mr. Edgar "Egai" Talusan Fernandez, Consultant Curator of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), Manila, was the keynote speaker during the 10th Culture and the Arts Center (CAC) Anniversary and 1st Arts Month Celebration of the Visayas State University. The opening program was held on February 3, 2012 at the VSU Convention Center with the theme "Advancing Local Creativity in the Arts."

The ViSCA Foundation Elementary School (VFES) conducted the Science and Math Fair on January 13-27, 2012 in the different venues.

Dr. Jose L. Bacusmo, VSU President, together with other officials of the University, affirmed their membership to the Region Eight Administrators League (REAL), Inc. as they were inducted on February 6, 2012 as new members to the organization by Director Imelda C. Laceras, Regional Director of the Department of Budget and Management of Region 8 and President of REAL at the DPWH Multipurpose Hall, Government Center, Palo, Leyte.

Five Center Directors of the Visayas State University (VSU) in Baybay City, Leyte presented their 2011 Accomplishments and 2012 Plan of Research, Development and Extension (RDE) Activities. This was held at the Audio Visual Room of the Office of the Vice President for Research and Extension (OVPRE) on January 25, 2012.
