VSU is set to host the International Agri-Life and Bioresource Sciences Symposium jointly organized with Hiroshima University, Japan, on March 16-19, 2025.
With the theme “Agri-Life and Bioresource Sciences: Collaborative Innovations for a Resilient Future,” this symposium aims to bring together experts and stakeholders in agriculture, life sciences, and bioresources to discuss advancements and explore innovative solutions.
The event is expected to attract around 200 participants from various academic institutions nationwide including 91 presenters who will deliver oral and poster presentations aligned with the symposium’s objectives.
This activity has three primary goals: to provide a venue for discussing the latest research, best practices, and emerging trends in agri-life and bioresource sciences; to strengthen research networks among scientists, industry professionals, policymakers, and other stakeholders; and to generate innovative strategies to address key challenges in agriculture, life sciences, and bioresource management.
A delegation of 22 professors and students from Hiroshima University will take part in the event, with Prof. Dr. Masayuki Shimada as the keynote speaker.
VSU and Hiroshima University Partnership
The partnership between VSU and Hiroshima University has evolved over the years marked by significant milestones.
The partnership began in December 2011 with the signing of Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on academic and educational exchange between Hiroshima University’s Graduate School of Biosphere Science and the then VSU’s College of Agriculture, now Faculty of Agriculture and Food Science.
This agreement aimed to promote mutual understanding through educational and academic collaboration, and facilitate joint research, faculty and student exchanges, and share academic resources.
During the VSU Centennial Anniversary in April 2024, VSU honored Hiroshima University with Sandigan Bayan Special award in recognition of its efforts to promote academic cooperation, and strengthen academic linkages and exchanges between the two institutions.
More recently, VSU students and faculty participated in the four-day 16th International Summer School in September 2024 hosted by Hiroshima University’s Graduate School of Biosphere Science.
It served as a platform for students and educators from Asia and South America to collaborate, exchange knowledge, and build global connections.
VSU hosting this international symposium with Hiroshima University is a manifestation of a strong partnership between the two institutions to further promote new academic and research opportunities.
