Through the realization of the 10-year Land Use Development and Infrastructure Plan (LUDIP), the Visayas State University is now on its full blown implementation of some of the priority infrastructure projects starting last quarter of 2024.
Among the priority projects is the construction of the Digital Learning Spaces Center situated at the side of the University Gymnasium.
According to Engr. Marcelo T. Abrera, Jr., the Head for Infrastructure Project Development, the Phase I of the project will focus on the construction of the VSU Auditorium with a budget of 40 million pesos from the national government.
This center aims to enhance the university’s capacity to hold big events. Also, this is an additional pride of VSU being the favorite destination that offers academic excellence and eco-tourism.

“When the additional funds become available, the construction of offices and rooms for Phase 2 will follow”, Engr. Abrera added.
Inside the Digital Learning Spaces Center are rooms and offices for student curricular and non-curricular activities such as the student council’s office, additional smart classrooms, conference rooms, recreational lounge, among others.

Additionally, the center is proposed to be a green building for its rain-harvesting facility that will make the building sustainable in terms of water resources, and will be integrated with solar panels for energy sustainability.
Another soon-to-rise infrastructure is a three-storey academic building with 80 million pesos located across the Department of Horticulture to address the shortage of classrooms and offices.
A vertical garden was incorporated into the perspective of each building which symbolizes the VSU’s commitment to becoming a national green university.

The dream to establish the Eastern Visayas Innovation Center for Health Biotechnology (EV-Biotech) building became a reality this year, with a total budget of 32 million.
Located near the Advanced Research and Innovation Center (ARIC), this building is dedicated to provide space for research and development initiatives in health biotechnology.
