2 Indonesian institutions to partner with VSU in advancing nursing program

The Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Kesehatan Mamba’ul ‘Ulum Surakarta (STIKes MUS) together with the Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) visited VSU College of Nursing (CON) and discussed partnership collaboration to advance nursing education and research engagement between universities.
The College of Nursing welcomed Prof. Aris Widiyanto, Prof. Hakim Anasulfalah, Prof. Karismatika Surya Gumelar, and Prof. Dr. Ihsan Hanif, to VSU on July 22, 2024, and organized a series of activities that included an insightful exchange of knowledge, lecture, and establishing new academic, research, and extension partnerships.
Dean of CON Mr. Christian Vie Baldonado, revealed they will collaborate to enhance nursing education, research, and community extension that will benefit students, faculty, and the communities served by both universities.
“There will be subjects in the College of Nursing, as well as subjects from the School for Health in the Universitas Sebelas Maret that will be taught by [our] professors from here and instructors from their university,” Dean Baldonado said.
On top of that, Mr. Baldonado talked about how they will be able to send out students and faculty for exchange soon.
Part of the three-day event was to visit the affiliating hospitals and centers for the Related Learning Experience of the CON. First, they visited the Sacred Heart Convent Extension in Franciscan College of Immaculate Conception, an affiliating center for the Gerontology Nursing course.
Further, they visited the partner hospitals including the Baybay City Immaculate Conception Hospital and Ormoc Doctors' Hospital. They were oriented about the services offered by the partner hospitals and asked questions about the Philippine Health Insurance Systems and healthcare waste management of the hospitals.
Aside from the hospital visit, they also dropped by one of the CON's community health partners involved in promoting health and nutrition, namely Masagana Rural Improvement Club (RIC) Producers Cooperative and Bunga Women's Association (BUWA).
Meanwhile, the Indonesian guests also visited VSU’s Quality Assurance Center for benchmarking. VSU is one of the top-performing universities in the country with the highest number of accredited programs.
To cap off their meaningful visit to VSU, CON organized a tree planting activity that was participated by the Indonesian visitors.
CON has collaborated with DYDC FM, the development campus radio of VSU under the Sukaranay program (STORYA-HE) which talks about the innovations in health using the broadcasting platform.
