To establish academic and educational collaboration, VSU and the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on April 30, 2024.
The MOU was started because of the Compendium project of the UPLB Center for Agri-Fisheries and Biosystems Mechanization (BIOMECH) of the College of Engineering and Agro-Industrial Technology with the Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (DOST-PCAARRD).
This project involves collecting data on agricultural technologies and collaborating with other academic institutions in the country through formalized partnerships.
Since VSU is a member of the Agricultural and Fisheries Mechanization Research, Development and Extension (AFMechRDEN) Network, BIOMECH has been in constant communication with VSU through the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (DABE) last year to build connections and collaborate with the university.
VSU and UPLB formalized the partnership by a MOU signing between VSU President Prose Ivy G. Yepes and UPLB Chancellor Jose V. Camacho at the Executive Conference Room of the UPLB Chancellor’s Office.
Dr. Jannet C. Bencure, Dean of the VSU College of Engineering and Technology with the VSU DABE Head Engr. Eldon P. De Padua, UPLB BIOMECH Director Dr. Ronel S. Pangan, and Dr. Jenielyn T. Padrones, the UPLB Office for Institutional Development in Higher Education (OIDHE) Director were the witnesses of the MOU signing.
The partnership between the two institutions involves the exchange of faculty, researchers, and students, collaborative research and extension projects, conduct of lectures, symposia, and capacity-building programs, and even the exchange of academic information and materials.
