About the Program
The Institute of Human Kinetics started offering the Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Physical Education, Health and Music (PEHM) in 2002 with thirteen students as the first batch. In 2009, IHK revised its offering in accordance with CHED CMO No. 23 series 2004 into the Bachelor in Secondary Education major in Music, Arts, Physical Education and Health (BSEd-MAPEH). With the k-12 implementation, new needs have arisen in performing arts, and more schools are offering the Special Program for the Arts (SPA). With the Grade 11 and 12 taking up Humanities and Social Studies and those who took Arts and Design track, the Institute of Human Kinetics offered the Bachelor of Culture and Arts Education (BCAEd) pursuant to CMO 82, series 2017.
The Bachelor of Culture and the Arts Education is a field of specialization engaged in clarifying the conceptual foundations of value-laden creative expressions such as visual arts, music, drama, and dance, in defining its relations to other disciplines of thought and action that address the fundamental question of what it means to creatively express the condition of being human in changing life-worlds, in analyzing the conditions and possibilities for crafting and asserting creative expressions of human being in diverse contexts of production, circulation, and consumption of creative expressions.
