Cong. Cari distributes scholarship certificates to 265 scholars

Honorable Jose Carlos L. Cari, Congressman of the Fifth District of Leyte, distributed on March 9, 2012 the scholarship certificates to some 265 students of VSU who availed of the "Cong. Jose Carlos L. Cari Scholarship." The event was held at the VSU's Center for Continuing Education.

The scholars happily received their certificates from the Congressman and expressed their sincerest thanks to the solon for helping them in their pursuit of education in this prestigious institution of higher learning.

Cong. Cari handed over to Dr. Roberto C. Guarte, VP for Administration and Finance and then officer-in-charge of the University, in the presence of Engr. Manolo B. Loreto Jr., Dean of Students, a check worth P900,000 as an initial amount for the payment of tuition fees of the scholars. As of the moment, the Office of the Congressman of the Fifth District of Leyte is still finalizing the list of the scholars which they estimated to increase to 300 scholars. The scholarship support was taken from his Priority Development Fund.

The Congressman encouraged the scholars to do their best and finish their respective degrees at VSU. Likewise, he assured them of his full support for as long as they will continue studying at VSU and passing all the subjects enrolled for a specific semester.

On behalf of the scholars, Mr. Dustin T. Loreño, one of the grantees, expressed his deepest gratitude to the Honorable Congressman for continuously helping them through the scholarship in treading on the path towards the attainment of their goal.

The college scholars from the different municipalities of the 5th District of Leyte are distributed, as follows: Abuyog – 13, Bato – 5, Hilongos – 22, Hindang – 2, Inopacan – 2, Javier – 5, Mahaplag – 5, and Baybay City – 211.
