College of Nursing holds 2nd pinning ceremony

The College of Nursing conducted on April 12, 2012 the 2nd Pinning Ceremony at the VSU Convention Center. The ceremony recognized the 48 BS Nursing graduates who just received their diplomas during the 59th VSU Collegiate Commencement Exercises to formally welcome them into the brotherhood and sisterhood of nurses.
Dr. Jose L. Bacusmo, VSU President, pointed out in his message that the occasion signifies the second batch of VSU Nursing graduates' commitment and solemn vow to the profession that they have chosen which is to serve the sick people either in the hospitals, at home, or even in the battlefield.
Dr. Bacusmo also challenged the new graduates to give out their best in everything they do and apply what they have learned from the University. He also wished that they can surpass the record set by the 1st batch of Nursing graduates who took the Nursing Licensure Examination
Last December 2011 who registered a high passing percentage of 84.21%.
The VSU President also commended the clinical instructors in molding their students and preparing them to become professional nurses. Moreover, he lauded the parents and guardians of the graduates for their unconditional love, moral and financial supports extended to their children. The imposition of pins to the graduates was done by Asst. Professor Elni Mari C. Mendoza, dean of the College of Nursing, and assisted by Ms. Phoebe Lyn B. Calungsod and Ms. Krishna Rae Z. Almeria, both clinical instructors.
Likewise, special awards and citations were accorded to some graduates who excelled academically and in co-curricular activities.
The ceremony was concluded with the singing of the Batch Song "Pilgrim's Theme" by the Class Beryl.
