VSU has produced 30 newly licensed Mechanical Engineers in the February 2025 Mechanical Engineering Licensure Examination (MELE) and showcased the university’s strong engineering education and training.

A total of 23 graduates from VSU Main Campus passed the board examination. Of these, 22 were first-time takers achieving an institutional passing rate of 65.71%.

Meanwhile, VSU Isabel had 7 first-time takers who passed the exam, resulting in an institutional passing rate of 31.82%.

This is the second highest number of passers in VSU’s main campus history, following the 2023 MELE where 28 graduates successfully obtained their licenses.

Despite the uncertainties obtaining the Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC) for the Mechanical Engineering program, the graduates remained focused and dedicated their efforts to rigorous preparation.

The COPC for the Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) of VSU Main Campus was awarded on January 17, 2025, coinciding with the initial deadline set by the Professional Regulation Commission for the February 2025 MELE.

The results mark another milestone for VSU’s long-standing tradition of academic excellence and its dedication to producing skilled professionals who are ready to take on the challenges of the engineering world.

The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Dr. Jannet C. Bencure appreciated the hard work and perseverance of the successful examinees.

“We are incredibly proud of our graduates and their success in the licensure examination despite the hardship that they encountered during their college days until the filing of the application for the said exam,” Dr. Bencure said.

The MELE, which is administered by the PRC, assesses the competence of aspiring engineers through a series of written tests focused on core engineering subjects, practical knowledge, and application.

With the successful passers, VSU continues to prove its worth as a leading institution in producing top-caliber engineers in the country.
