Leading the Component Campuses: Meet the VSU Chancellors

The VSU system is home to four external campuses, each led by a dedicated Chancellor who oversees academic and research programs, campus development, and community engagement.
While these Chancellors were officially designated by the University President Dr. Prose Ivy G. Yepes, their appointments followed consultations with their respective campuses to align with local needs and aspirations.
Get to know the leaders shaping the future of VSU Villaba, VSU Isabel, VSU Tolosa, and VSU Alangalang.
VSU Villaba Chancellor: Dr. Reynaldo V. Mollejon
Dr. Mollejon assumed the role of Chancellor of VSU Villaba on January 2, 2025, after 20 years of service to the institution.
He previously held key positions including College Secretary, Head of Administration and Finance, Director for Academic Affairs, and Dean of the College of Teacher Education, Arts, and Sciences.
These roles provided him with extensive experiences in academic governance, financial management, and institutional development, preparing him for the leadership challenges of the campus.
Dr. Mollejon holds a Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Mathematics from VSU Villaba, a Master of Arts in Teaching major in Mathematics from Palompon Institute of Technology, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Mathematics from Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology.
Under his leadership, his priorities include enhancing graduate performance in licensure examinations, promoting faculty research and extension activities, and improving campus infrastructure, particularly in securing sustainable water resources.
He believes in the importance of faculty development and student-centered learning for VSU Villaba to continually produce highly competent graduates.
Dr. Mollejon upholds the values of integrity, accountability, honesty, dedication, and empathy that would contribute to his decision-making as the new steward of VSU Villaba.
He succeeded Dr. Maria Jehan P. Libre who is now designated as the Director for Academic Affairs in VSU Villaba.
VSU Isabel Chancellor: Dr. Catherine L. Chan
Dr. Chan took on the role of Chancellor of VSU Isabel on February 17, 2024, bringing with her over a decade of experience in education.
Before her designation, she served as Head of Academic Affairs in VSU Isabel for six years, where she played a key role in shaping the academic direction of the campus.
She has been instrumental in program development, faculty training, and accreditation process for VSU Isabel to continually meet the national education standards.
She holds several degrees including Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Technology and Home Economics, Master of Arts in Elementary Education, and Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Management.
Her leadership focuses on strengthening instructional quality, expanding faculty development initiatives, and enhancing student engagement.
She also prioritizes curriculum modernization for the programs to remain industry-relevant and responsive to technological advancements.
Dr. Chan believes in leadership based on service, transparency, and collaboration. She values open communication and teamwork among faculty, staff, and students to work cohesively toward common goals.
She succeeded Dr. Luzviminda A. Tajos who recently retired on February 1, 2025 after 41 years of government service.
VSU Tolosa Chancellor: Dr. Quenstein D. Lauzon
With expertise in fisheries and aquaculture, Dr. Lauzon became a Chancellor of VSU Tolosa in July 2020 after 14 years of service.
She previously held academic and administrative roles that contributed to the development of the campus, particularly in its fisheries and marine sciences programs.
Her background in research and extension has helped strengthen the engagement of VSU Tolosa with local communities and industry stakeholders.
Dr. Lauzon earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology major in Marine Biology from Leyte State University, now VSU. She also holds Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Fisheries (Aquaculture) from the University of the Philippines Visayas.
As Chancellor, she prioritizes the expansion of the fisheries program and increase research productivity to strengthen partnerships in aquaculture and coastal resource management.
She has been instrumental in enhancing quality assurance and academic accreditation efforts in VSU Tolosa.
She believes in the principles of sustainability to ensure that education and research serve long-term environmental and societal needs.
Her leadership is centered on promoting innovation and resource stewardship to maintain VSU Tolosa’s role in coastal conservation and food security.
She succeeded Dr. Luzviminda dela Cruz who previously served as the OIC Dean of VSU Tolosa.
VSU Alangalang Chancellor: Dr. Judith B. Jomadiao
Dr. Jomadiao has led VSU Alangalang since 2020 with her extensive experience in agricultural economics and resource management.
Prior to her designation, she was actively involved in research and extension programs that focused on frugal development, economic resilience, and sustainable agrficutlure.
Her work has contributed to strengthening partnerships between VSU Alangalang and agricultural stakeholders.
She earned her Bachelor of Science in Agriculture major in Agricultural Economics from the University of Eastern Philippines and a Diploma in Agricultural Economics from the University of New England in Australia.
She further pursued her academic journey at the University of New England and earned a Master of Economics in Resource Management. She then obtained her Doctor of Philosophy in Forestry major in Forest Resources Management (Forest Economics) from the University of the Philippines Los Baños.
Dr. Jomadiao has worked in both the academe and non-governmental organization sectors which focused on community development and agricultural sustainability.
Under her leadership, she prioritizes research-driven academic development to strengthen partnerships in the agricultural sector and enhance extension services that directly benefit local farmers and rural communities.
She also aims to modernize the curriculum to equip students with relevant skills and knowledge in agribusiness and agricultural innovation.
Her leadership is anchored on inclusivity, adaptability, and evidence-based decision-making to promote a not just a conducive learning environment but also productive graduates who are prepared for real-world challenges.
She succeeded Dr. Manuel S. Rona.
Each Chancellor contributes a unique perspective and specialized expertise to their campus which guide VSU towards higher standards in education, research, and community engagement.
Through their initiatives, the university continues to grow as a center for knowledge and innovation to make a lasting impact on its students and communities it serves.
As VSU evolves, these Chancellors play an important role in guiding the university towards greater achievements and long-term success.
