For the second time, VSU welcomed partners from the Campus France Philippines and brought students and faculty closer to the possibilities of studying in one of Europe’s most esteemed academic landscapes.
Officer for Higher Education and Linguistics and Head of Campus France Philippines-SCAC Adam Folleas, and Campus France representative Jehan Paulo Udani, visited VSU as part of their Campus France roadshow to offer insights into French higher education and the opportunities it holds for Filipinos.
VSU officials, faculty members, and students convened with the Campus France representatives to discuss potential academic partnerships, student mobility programs, and research opportunities.
They also introduced the attendees to globally-recognized universities in France, scholarship programs, and pathways to academic advancement. The session highlighted the country;s status as a leader in research and innovation.
This visit comes after VSU’s participation in the 2024 European Association for International Education (EAIE) Conference in Toulouse, France, where VSU was part of the first Filipino delegation to engage with Europeanhigher education institutions on a global stage.
The meeting strengthened the growing connection between VSU and the French Embassy, opening doors for broader academic exchanges.
Campus France, an organization established in 1988 under French Ministries of National Education and Foreign Affairs, has long been dedicated to promoting French universities to the international community to make education in France more accessible to students from around the world.
In the Philippines, their local office in Manila serves as a bridge for aspiring scholars who wish to study in France across various disciplines.
VSU’s engagement with France has been steadily expanding.
In September last year, the Director for International Affairs and Relations Dr. Hanzel N. Mejia traveled to France to participate in the EAIE Annual Conference and French Immersion. This provided VSU with insights into European higher education system.
Building on this momentum, in December 2024, University President Dr. Prose Ivy G. Yepes visited France as one of the select representatives from Philippine universities.
Her participation aimed to support the Philippines’ priorities for internationalization by promoting global networks, expanding opportunities for faculty and students and promoting scientific exchanges.
Both President Yepes’ and Dr. Mejia’s separate engagements in France solidified the position of VSU as a key player in strengthening ties with European academic institutions.
VSU previously hosted Campus France in 2022 for a similar event, making this visit a continued effort to strengthen academic ties between VSU and France.
With VSU gaining traction in global ranking systems and expanding its international reputation, French institutions have taken a growing interest in forging connections with the university.
For students and faculty interested in pursuing higher education opportunities in France, Campus France provides a wealth of information on scholarships, research opportunities, and student mobility programs.
VSU hosting the Campus France Roadshow for the second time was yet another step in bringing these opportunities close to Filipino students who aspire to learn and thrive in a globally competitive academic environment.
