#ProudViscan wins national quiz show on geographic information system

#ProudViscan Neil C. Daroy, a fourth-year geodetic engineering student, won 1st place in the Geographic Information System (GIS) 2024 Quiz Show Competition organized by the Young Geodetic Engineers of the Philippines, Inc. (YGEP).
Of 14 participants in the GIS Quiz Show, Daroy bested in the competition that tested their knowledge of GIS fundamentals, theory, history, software, and processes.
The quiz show was among the highlights of the GIS Month celebration organized by the National YGEP. Other activities include an online mapping contest, a TikTok video contest, a GIS trivia challenge, and training on quantum GIS.
VSU, University of Southeastern Philippines, Pampanga State Agricultural University, University of Science and Technology of the Southern Philippines, Tarlac Agricultural University, Bicol University, Eastern Visayas State University, GEP-Bicol University Student Chapter, and GEP-Quezon Student Chapter were the participating schools for the 2024 GIS Quiz Show.
In a Facebook post, the Geodetic Engineers of the Philippines-VSU Student Chapter congratulated Daroy, who dominated the quiz show.
“Mr. Daroy shows dominance as he tops the scoreboard among the fourteen participants. He then ranks third in the moderate round of the game. In the difficulty round, Mr. Daroy and Mr. Caralde both tied for first place. A tiebreaker for first place was commenced, hailing Mr. Daroy as the winner of the GIS Month 2024 Quiz Show,” the caption reads.
The quiz show happened on November 20, 2024, via Zoom.
Recently, the VSU Department of Geodetic Engineering was recognized by the Professional Regulation Commission and the Professional Regulatory Board of Geodetic Engineers as the third-best school in the county with an impressive 81.82% passing percentage in the October 2024 Geodetic Engineers Licensure Examination.
