Not just one but two licenses in just a year! This #ProudViscan is truly living the pursuit of excellence.
Get to know Engr. Kenzo Braye Rendora Gerale, a registered civil engineer and now a registered master plumber who aced the recent Master Plumbers Licensure Examination (MPLE) by placing third spot among the 2,247 successful examinees in the country.
Engr. Gerale obtained a rating of 86.60% with a tie from Southern Luzon State University - Lucban (SLPC) in the person of Fernando M. Remojo, Jr.
This #ProudViscan topnotcher is a Civil Engineering graduate of Visayas State University (VSU) in 2022 who hails from Ormoc City. He finished his undergraduate degree majoring in Structural Engineering with an academic distinction Cum Laude and at the same time a recipient of the Academic Excellence in Science and Technology from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) as one of its scholars.
During his four-year journey at VSU, he was a member of the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineering Students - VSU Student Chapter (PICE-VSUSC) and the DOST Scholars Society sa Beska.
Just on April 29, 2023, he passed the Civil Engineering Licensure Examination (CELE) almost making it to the top 10 cut.
“Actually, my goal is to top the Civil Engineering Licensure Examination last April 2023, I passed the exam but failed to achieve my goal to be on the list of topnotchers with a margin of 2.25%. This led me to push myself even harder and take the July 2023 MPLE with the goal of topping the exam. In addition to relying on the syllabus provided by Fronteer Review Center, I also utilized a variety of study materials, online resources, and practice exams,” he shared.
His determination to top the MPLE made him secure one of the highest possible places on the recent boards.
“As soon as the results came out, I immediately scanned the list of passers, I felt a sense of relief knowing that I saw my name on the list. Unaware of what I would find, I clicked the list of topnotchers, and there it was – my name and my school ranked 3rd on the list. It was a rush of positive emotions and excitement immediately telling my parents that I did not only pass, the exam but I topped it as well,” the #ProudViscan topnotcher recalled.
Engr. Gerale is another addition to the list of engineering graduates of VSU who topped the licensure exams in the country. When asked about his tips on how to become a topnotcher, he shared these four secrets: creating a well-structured study plan and following it with dedication, discipline, and consistency; aiming for the top; getting enough sleep and staying healthy; and praying.
For him, this achievement alone would not be possible without his alma mater and home department, the Department of Civil Engineering (DCE) for educational training.
“The University and the Department of Civil Engineering provided me with invaluable lessons related to plumbing and mathematics, especially through the guidance of competitive instructors. I honed my study habits while facing difficult exams under their mentorship,” Engr. Gerale expressed.
Aside from VSU, he also wanted to thank the people who in one way or another helped him realize this big milestone of his life.
“I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to my parents and family for their unwavering support from the beginning. To my friends who were with me throughout the review, and to everyone who believed in me. Lastly, I give all the glory to the Almighty Father, who made all these things possible,” the #ProudViscan concluded.
The top-performing school of the recent MPLE is the Abra State Institute of Science and Technology, while the top 1 examinee who garnered 87.10% is from Camarines Sur Polytechnic College and the top 2 who earned 86.70% is from Central Luzon State University.
The master plumbers board was conducted in 13 testing centers located in National Capital Region, Baguio, Butuan, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Koronadal, Legazpi, Lucena, Pagadian, Rosale, and Tacloban, respectively.
