To continually develop highly competitive human resources, Visayas State University (VSU) invested in improving its non-academic personnel by sending them to a development training held in Puerto Princesa, Palawan.
The VSU delegates were composed of administrative staff from different departments and offices. They attended two training sessions namely, “Employee Skill Enhancement: A Supervisory Development Seminar” and “Personality Development and Developing Customer Satisfaction Training” which ran from June 13 to 16, 2023, at the A&A Plaza Hotel.
This four-day training is aimed to let government officials and employees cope with the new work situations under the new environment, capacitate them with knowledge and skill competencies, and maintain motivation and job satisfaction.
The Personnel Officers Association of the Philippines (POAP), a civil service commission-accredited learning and development institution, organized the said training. POAP is committed to helping develop and strengthen the capabilities of human resources.
Several topics were covered during the event such as the service foundation and excellence, kinds of service organizations, communication and understanding self and customers, personality development and acquisition of healthy lifestyle, social graces, dressing up and maintaining hygiene, and the overall positive outlook in life.
The cerebral yet fun-filled training concluded with a tour around Puerto Princesa City to let the participants experience and witness the tourist attractions and learn from Palawan’s culture and traditions.
The knowledge and skills acquired by the delegates will be applied and shared with clients and colleagues back to the university as part of their re-entry plan.
The #ProudViscan delegates have expressed their gratitude for the opportunities and support given by the administration headed by President Edgardo E. Tulin to the administrative staff, through the university’s Learning and Development Program.
Honey Sofia V. Colis, the Director of the Human Resource Management Office (HRMO) thanked the VSU administration headed by University President Edgardo E. Tulin for opening many opportunities for administrative staff for advanced training and capacity development.
“We’re grateful to the VSU administration for always being responsive to capacity development programs not just for our faculty members but also for our administrative staff. As the university is now growing further, we need to continuously update all our human power resources on how we can best serve our ever-growing clientele that’s why we are eager to provide them avenues for capacity development,” the HRMO Director explained.
VSU will be sending more batches to attend POAP training in the incoming months to continually improve university performance in terms of operations and customer service.
