VSU athletes shine in National SCUAA Games 2013

Some varsity athletes of the Visayas State University (VSU) who joined in the State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA) National Olympics 2013 held on February 17-24 at the Jose Rizal Memorial State College Sports Complex in Dapitan City garnered medals in their respective events.
Mr. Wilmar Alfeche, who was undefeated in the badminton (singles) event, received a silver medal together with his teammates for accumulating points that made them into the second spot in badminton men's category. Moreover, Mr. Nollan Centino also garnered silver medal in tennis men together with his team from other institutions in Region 8.
Mr. Narciso Deterala, on the other hand, grabbed the bronze medal in the athletics men specifically in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. The other athletes who tried their best to almost getting medals were: Miss Ian Mae Espinosa, fourth place in swimming women (50-meter breaststroke), and Miss Gelli Ann Alcuino and Mr. Joel Estupa, semi-finalists in the dance sports (modern standard).
This year's sporting event was participated in by some 8,000 athletes, coaches and officials representing the 17 delegations that joined the competition throughout the country.
