College of Nursing’s (CoN) Erwin Thomas Dorego and College of Engineering’s (CoE) Carmela Rustia were hailed as the Mr. and Ms. VSU 2019 during the coronation night held at the Visayas State University Gymnatorium on April 25, 2019, Wednesday.
The two emerged victorious from a throng of 24 male and female candidates from 12 colleges and branch campuses vying for the crown.
This wasn’t the first time, however, that Rustia won a system-wide pageant. In 2016, Rustia won as Ms. Intramurals with partner, Alexander Luminario from the College of Agriculture and Food Science (CAFS).
College of Agriculture and Food Science’s (CAFS) Dan Maurice Millana, and College of Education’s (CE) Susan Mitchell, trailed closely by as 1st runners up, while College of Arts and Sciences’ (CAS) Karl Alexander Kreuzer and College of Management and Economics’ (CME) Princess Paraiso completed the pageant as 2nd runners up.
The Visayas State University celebrated its 95th year with the theme “Building networks for technology, innovation, adoption, and commercialization”.
