The Department of Computer Science and Technology (DCST) headed by Prof. Winston M. Tabada celebrated this year’s Computer Science (CS) Week from February 26 to March 2, 2018.
The activities lined up for this celebration were mainly organized by the members of the Computer Science Students Society (CS3) to strengthen the camaraderie among computer science majors through programming competitions, sharing of knowledge and current trends on computer science, and other related events.
The celebration kicked-off with a parade on February 26, 2018 followed by an opening ceremony with mini-games. CS3 also organized other activities such as mind games, Sudoku on paper, spider solitaire, and minesweeper competitions.
They also held a department-based quiz show covering topics on general computer knowledge to more specific disciplines in computer science. One of the highlights of the weeklong event was a Hackathon where participants were given a programming problem that they had to solve.
Culminating this year’s CS week was a seminar on “A Walkthrough to the Field of Computer Science” which was presented by Mr. Jomari Barrera, a DCST faculty.
