The Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF) opened scholarships for food technology graduates of the Visayas State University (VSU) during the Food Value Chain (FVC) seminar held at VSU on December 1-2, 2016.
According to Dr. Ivy Emnace, head of VSU’s Department of Food Science and Technology (DFST), VSU food technology graduates were invited to a scholarship at Kasetsart University in Thailand. The scholarship is a short-term intensive course on food value chain that will be implemented by the ASEAN Food Industries Human Resources Development Association (AFH).
Dr. Emnace added that the Japan-ASEAN Cooperation will induce a stronger partnership and linkage with the universities in Japan and other ASEAN countries offering food technology programs.
The seminar is one of the many lecture-sessions that AFH will be held at VSU, as its partner university in the Philippines. The sessions will be in-line with AFH’s goal to provide learning opportunities to ASEAN university-students on the food industry, employment in Japanese companies and experience of Japanese food culture.
In September 9, VSU food technology graduate students represented the Philippines during the AFH’s Japan Food Industry Tour and were awarded as the 'Best Output' for their presentation on the Food Value Chain in the Philippines.
