2 VSU professors top in post-training exam of AACCUP

Belonias, Dean of the Graduate School, of the Visayas State University were given recognition for topping the post-training examination of the Training-Workshop of AACCUP Accreditors on Outcomes-Based Quality Assurance.

The Flower and Garden Show 2014 served as the opening salvo of the 90th (Nanogintennial) Founding Anniversary of the Visayas State University. It was held in the afternoon of August 1 at the VSU Social Garden.
Dr. Jose L. Bacusmo, VSU President, was so elated with the presence of many plant exhibitors and enthusiasts whose number keeps on increasing every year. Dr. Bacusmo also emphasized that there is always something new that the exhibitors want to show to the plant lovers and other clients that would entice them to come to VSU every time it holds its anniversary.

We are deeply saddened by the news of the death of one of our students today.
Earlier in the afternoon of July 23, Wednesday, a mechanical engineering student died in the middle of an ultimate frisbee game. He was participating as a member of the College of Engineering (COE) Bravehearts ultimate frisbee team for the 2014 VSU Intramural Games. He suffered of cardiac arrest while playing.
Paramedics immediately rushed him to the VSU hospital but he was declared dead on arrival.

Search for Truth turns 30
The Search for Truth, one of VSU's most prominent symbols, turns 30 today.
On April 5, 1984, ViSCA President Dr. Fernando A. Bernardo unveiled the monument to a young college community. Standing in front of the Administration Building are two gigantic nude figures of a man and a woman, emphasizing partnership in the quest for truth, knowledge, and the professions. Nakedness symbolizes boldness, impartiality and unemcumbered drive in seeking for truth in its academic pursuits.

The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) expressed its strong commitment by allocating US$3-million total fund to rehabilitate the Visayas State University-Tolosa Campus that was totally wrecked by the super typhoon Yolanda on November 8, 2013. This development surfaced after a KOICA Team visited Tacloban City a day after the typhoon, and two weeks later a six-member KOICA Team visited the area where some Korean volunteers were deployed which include the VSU-Tolosa Campus where Miss Juhee (Olive) Kim serves as KOICA Volunteer.
