Admissions Procedure

Go to the VSU Admissions Portal and click Get Started →.
Enter a valid email address and click Submit. You must Agree with VSU’s privacy notice to continue.
Note: Your email address should preferably be Gmail and should reflect your real family name and first name. If you do not have such account, create one.

Open the email sent to your address and click the confirmation link. You will be brought back to the admissions portal to continue with your application.

Supply the needed information, which includes:

Your personal information

Details about your home address, parent or guardian, schools attended and educational background

Preferred Undergraduate Program and Campus choice

When asked, upload the required documents based on your applicant category.

Please review all entries.

Click Submit.
VSU will validate your application. Once we find that everything is in order, we will send to you the following details:
- CAT username and password
- Examinee Control Number (ECN)
- Exam schedule (date and time)
- Link to the CAT Portal where you will take the exam
Check the Technical Requirements section of this page and make sure that everything is set as you take the exam.
Before the test, your assigned proctor will send to you a Zoom link, which you must join as you take the exam. We will announce the guidelines and other instructions in taking the test soon.

The results will be posted on our website and shared on our social media pages. If you are “accepted”, this means you may enroll in the program of choice. If you are “qualified”, this means you did not make it to the quota of the program you selected, but you may enroll in programs with open slots.

Taking the Exam
Overview
The 2021 VSU College Admission Test is a two-hour exam done online through the Moodle platform. All takers must use a computer and will be observed by a proctor through Zoom throughout the duration of the test.
Technical Requirements
You will need the following equipment and software to take the test:

Desktop computer or laptop with functional video camera and microphone
- If you are using a desktop computer or an external web camera, it will be positioned on the side so you could show your screen and keyboard.
- If you are using a laptop with a built-in webcam, you will additionally need a medium-sized mirror, to be placed strategically for the proctor to see your screen and keyboard.
- If you do not have an external webcam or a mirror, you may use a mobile phone or tablet for Zoom and position it accordingly to show your screen and keyboard.

- Any web browser to take the exam on the VSU CAT Platform (Moodle-based).

Exam Procedure
- Get your exam date and schedule from the email we set to you. You will be assigned either to a Saturday or Sunday, and on one of the following time slots: 9 AM to 11 AM or 3 PM to 5 PM.
- Get the Zoom link emailed to you by your proctor at least 2 hours before your schedule.
- Log in to Zoom 1 hour 30 minutes to 1 hour before your scheduled time. For example, if your exam is at 9 AM, you must be in by 7:30 AM. Ensure that your camera (and mirror) is placed strategically as instructed in the Technical Requirements section above.
- Once in Zoom, rename your Zoom account to “Your ECN” - “Last Name, Given Name”. For example: 12345 - Dela Cruz, Juan.
- Log in to the exam platform using the link and account credentials sent to you.
- Your proctor will start validating your identity. Please show the following through the webcam: Your face, a valid ID or any official document with your photo, and your ECN printed/written in large font (at least 1 inch tall) on a piece of paper.
- Recite the pledge of academic honesty as instructed by the proctor.
- At the exact time of your exam, refresh your browser. The exam will appear in your account. You may now start taking the exam.
- Finish the exam. If you are done before the two-hour duration, you may notify your proctor through a private chat. You may then log out of the exam platform and leave the Zoom meeting. You’re done!

For Senior High School Graduates/Graduating Students
- Certification from your School Principal that you are expected to graduate this School Year 2020 to 2021
- Certification of your grades with a computed Grade Point Average (GPA) from Grades 9, 10 and 11
- Validated school identification card (ID)
For High School Graduates in the Old Basic Education Curriculum
- Form 138
For Alternative Learning System (ALS) Graduates
- ALS Accreditation and Equivalency (A&E) rating
For Transferees and Second Coursers
- Certified true copy of Transcript of Records (TOR)
- Certification of your grades with a computed Grade Point Average (GPA) from Grades 9, 10, and 11 (applicable only for those who have taken only one semester in college)

A: The VSU CAT 2021 Screening & Proctoring Committee reviews each application carefully during weekdays. Once they find your application to be in order, with complete documents, they will schedule you to the next available schedule. Because of the thousands of applications we have received, it may take some time before we are able to get to yours. You must be ready for any upcoming schedule. Check your email regularly for your confirmation.
Q: Do I have to be in Zoom while taking the exam?
A: Yes. You are required to be observed by a proctor when you take the exam.
Q: Will you provide a reviewer for the exam?
A: No, VSU will not provide a reviewer. But you can study the following subjects:

Q: What if I no longer have my SHS ID due to various circumstances?
A: You may provide/present any valid ID (e.g. TIN ID, philhealth ID, brgy. ID…) since it will only be used for verification purposes.
Q: I was a VSU CAT qualifier last year, do I still have to take the 2021 CAT?
A: Qualifiers of the VSUCAT 2020 but failed to enroll during the school year 2020-2021 for valid reasons shall still be eligible as qualifiers for SY 2021-2022. However, this policy only applies to the specified school year to accommodate students’ request for deferment as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic situation. Two conditions of deferment that should be met prior for online admission:
- The student sends a letter of deferment of his/her enrollment to the Office of the Head of Admission specifying the reasons for failure to enroll during the school year where he/she is a qualifier.
- The student has not enrolled in any college/university course prior to admission to VSU.
Q: Can I present my diploma instead of providing the certification that I’m already a SHS graduate?
A: No, we do not need your diploma. You can present your grade 12 GPA so that we can verify that you’re already a SHS graduate.
Q: What if I have lacking documents?
A: Unfortunately, we cannot process your application. Our Admission app is designed to only proceed if you have uploaded the documents required.
Q: Is it possible to file my application using a mobile device?
A: Yes, you can file your admission application form using a phone, tablet, or computer. However, during the actual test, you must use a laptop or a personal computer with a functional camera and microphone.
