With the passing of Republic Act 11974 which officially created the Visayas State University College of Medicine, Leyte Fifth District Congressman Carl Nicolas C. Cari now begins the important groundwork for the actual implementation of this milestone project.

VSU’s veterinary medicine (VetMed) delegates bagged several top awards in quiz bowl and video skit competitions of the recently concluded National Congress of Veterinary Medicine Students (NCVMS) held at DepEd Edutech Center, Lahug, Cebu City.

Our very own agricultural and biosystems engineering (ABE) students marked history by bagging the highest award and winning the Php 70,000 cash prize during the grandest comeback of the Philippine Agricultural Engineering Standards (PAES) Quiz Contest.

As part of the last infrastructure development projects of the Tulin administration, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Leyte 5th District Engineering Office will take the lead in building the university’s Learning Resource Center (LRC) that includes a 1000-seater auditorium theater.

To secure the rare and special collections of books about the Philippines called Filipiniana, VSU Learning Commons (Library) worked on a project converting the physical copies to digital forms which will be accessible online soon.
