Since unemployed youth continues to be high in rural areas despite the decline in the unemployment rate according to the Philippine Statistics Authority in 2023, VSU through the Department of Business and Management (DBM) was inspired to pursue an extension project on empowering the rural youth through entrepreneurship, digital marketing skills, leadership competence, and financial literacy development.

VSU’s dependable partner in cassava production, the Fatima Multi-Purpose Cooperative (FMPC) finally realized its own Root Crop Processing Plant, considered the biggest facility in the region.

The Visayas State University flagship campus in Baybay City has just completed its latest upgrade in web and online services by being the first university in the region to be certified as iPv6-ready.

This story is about reintroducing insects as a potential nutritious food alternative for Filipinos as part of the commitment of the university to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly on food security, economic growth, and the protection of the environment.
