About the Program

The Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) is a four-year program that prepares students for the art and science of teaching. It shapes expertise in pedagogy, such as child and adolescent development, principles of teaching, facilitating learning, curriculum development, assessment of student learning, educational technology and classroom management, among others, as well as prospective teachers’ disciplinary expertise.

The areas of specialization offered by the program are: English, Filipino, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies. The program concludes with intensive practice teaching in the laboratory school of the College and in the cooperating public schools, where practice teachers receive dynamic mentoring from experienced cooperating teachers and professional education supervisors.

It was in 2002 when the College of Education started to offer the BSEd program. It was revised in 2017 that adheres with the prescribed objectives for teacher education, as indicated in the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) memorandum order (CMO) no. 74, series of 2017.

The BSEd is now a Level III accredited program by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges Universities and Colleges in the Philippines (AACCUP).

• JOSE CELSO S. PEREZ, JR. - Class of 2019 Mr. Jose Celso S. Perez, Jr. graduated as Summa Cum Laude of his class and is the 6th placer in the September 2019 Licensure Examination for Teachers. He was hired in January 2020 with a Regular-Temporary position in consonance to CSC Memo Circular No. 25, S. 1995 with subjects “The Brightest for the Bureaucracy “and the job offering by the University President.
