VSU awards medals and cash to its PRC board placers

In recognition of the achievements earned by the VSU alumni in the 2014 Board Examinations conducted by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), the Visayas State University (VSU) accorded medals and cash awards to those who were placers in the different Board Examinations. The awarding ceremony was held during the 62nd VSU Commencement Exercises on April 22, 2015 at the VSU Gymnatorium.
The Board placers and the awards they received were: Mr. Nic Oswald M. Borines – 3rd place, VSU Medal of Excellence plus PhP20,000 and the Mayor Camen L. Cari Award of Excellence for Agriculture plus PhP10,000; Engr. Lemar N. Bacordo – 3rd place, VSU Medal of Excellence plus PhP15,000 and the Cong. Jose Carlos L. Cari Award of Excellence for Agricultural Engineer plus PhP15,000; Engr. Rey Mark L. Alfante – 6th place, VSU Medal of Excellence plus PhP15,000 and the Hon. Atty. Florante A. Cayunda, Jr. Award of Excellence for Geodetic Engineer plus PhP5,000; and Engr. Arnulfo R. Antolihao – 8th place, VSU Medal of Excellence plus PhP15,000 and the Hon. Atty. Florante A. Cayunda, Jr. Award of Excellence for Geodetic Engineer plus PhP5,000.
The incentives for VSU graduates who are topnotchers in Board Examinations are as follows: First Placer – PhP50,000; Second Placer – PhP40,000; Third Placer – PhP30,000, Fourth to Tenth Placers – PhP20,000; and priority in hiring for employment in VSU, subject to existing rules and regulations in hiring for faculty members.
Moreover, the Department or College producing board topnotchers (regardless of rank) also receives incentives from the University. These are: one-time cash incentive of PhP100,000 to be used by the unit to improve its facilities; a plaque of recognition; and PhP100,000 for achieving 100% passing with minimum number of takers of not less than 10 which will be used to acquire additional facilities or for improvement of the unit.
