Mighty Pythons is champion in the 2015 Faculty and Staff Intramural Games

The Mighty Pythons Team was declared as the General Champion in the 2015 Faculty and Staff Intramural Games on March 11-13 held in the different venues at the VSU Main Campus. The Team had accumulated 282 total points and was also proclaimed the Overall Champion in Sports competitions. It got first places in kickball women, athletics men and women, tennis men and women, chess women, and billiards men. Moreover, it also won first place in the mountain bike race (36 years old and above). Furthermore, the Team dominated in the balak contest, a capella, and tango.
With Dr. Roberto C. Guarte as the Team Coordinator and Engr. Florentino F. Morales, Jr. as the General Athletic Manager, the Mighty Pythons is composed of the following colleges, departments, centers and offices: College of Engineering (DAE, CE, DGE, DCST, DME), College of Arts and Sciences (DBS, DLABS, DMPS, DoPAC), VSU-Villaba, Budget, Finance, Accounting, Information, ACRO, Cash, Records, PCC, VSU-TVET, PRPEO, NCRC, ODA-HRD, OUS, ATI, Legal, OP, OVPAF, IASO, ILFMU, and RERC.
The Eagles Team got the First Runner Up spot and garnered 263 total points. The Team lambasted the other teams in basketball women, softball men, badminton men, table tennis men and women, dart men, billiards women, and dama men and women. The Team also grabbed first places in walkathon women (35 years old and below, and in 36 years old and above), walkathon men (36 years old and above), kayak relay, and mountain bike race (35 years old and below).
On the other hand, last year’s General Champion, The Tigers, fell short and snatched the Second Runner Up slot for garnering 243 points. The Team dominated in the basketball men, volleyball men and women, badminton women, chess men, and dart women. Moreover, it got first places in the cheering contest (Best Squad Leader), and in Korean bike race women (36 years old and above). The Tigers was also proclaimed Overall Champion in the Literary-Musical Contest and won first places in the vocal duet, boogie, and pop dance (35 years old and below).
The Leopards Team tailed at the Third Runner Up post and earned 150 points. The Team has earned the Best Cheer Leader award in the cheering contest. It also bagged first places in walkathon men (35 years old and below), Korean bike race women (35 years old and below), vocal solo, cha-cha, and pop dance (36 years old and above).
This year’s University-wide sports joust which hinged on the theme, “Celebrating Wellness,” was facilitated by the Institute of Human Kinetics with the help of the BSED MAPEH major students under the leadership of Dr. Aleli A. Villocino, IHK Director. JFMBaldos
