NCCA VSU Filipiniana

Following the implementation of the project “Digitization and Access to VSU Library Filipiniana Resources” funded by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), VSU Learning Commons (VSU Library) officially introduced the now digitized Filipiniana books to Viscans.

Earlier this year, the VSU Learning Commons started digitizing VSU Filipiniana materials, which are rare and special collections of books about Philippine history, culture, literature, arts, among others.

Mr. Angelo Paulo Z. Detera, Head of the Cultural Heritage Section, Program Monitoring and Evaluation Division of NCCA visited the university and joined the VSU Learning Commons’ team during the official launching of digitized Filipiniana books. 

Mr. Vicente A. Gilos, the VSU Chief Librarian introduced the digitized Filipiniana books through the computer sets displayed during the ceremony at the Audio Visual Room of the VSU Learning Commons.

The ceremony was attended by Dr. Aleli A. Villocino, Vice President for Student Affairs and Services; Dr. Christina A. Gabrillo, Dean of Students; Prof. Jude Nonie A. Sales, Head of the VSU Culture and the Arts; Mr. Christian S. Bacolod, representative of the Institute of Human Kinetics and one of the advisers of the Bachelor of Culture and Arts Education, Engr. Phloem Galupo, a representative from Vice President for Administration and Finance; Ms. Maria Roberta S. Miraflor, Head of Records and Archives, Ms. Andreli D. Pardales, VSU’s former Chief Librarian, and VSU students.

The VSU Learning Commons thanked the efforts and technical expertise of Mr. Jake Marvin Villegas, the information technology specialist of the library who manages the creation of the website that compiles the digitized Filipiniana books and other library resources online.
