VSU climbs from 14th to 9th spot in 2022 UniRank assessment

Visayas State University is now among the top universities in the Philippines after securing the 9th spot in UniRank’s 2022 edition. This is the second time that VSU was included in the top 10 cut after placing 8th in the Webometrics ranking last year. 

UniRank is a global ranking system that ranks universities and colleges based on their web presence and popularity in terms of estimated traffic, domain trust, authority, and quality link to popularity. 

To provide approximate ranking results instead of the submitted data by the universities, UniRank uses valid, unbiased, and non-influenceable web metrics from independent web intelligence sources. 

Currently, UniRank has four web metrics. These are Moz Domain Authority, SimilarWeb Global Rank, Majestic Referring Domains, and Majestic Trust Flow. Every month of January and July, UniRank publishes new university rankings.

In the Philippines, there are 232 higher education institutions (HEIs) that are recognized by UniRank. This ranking system selected the universities and colleges based on the following criteria: chartered, licensed, or accredited by the appropriate Philippine higher education-related organization, offering at least four-year undergraduate degrees or postgraduate degrees, and delivering courses predominantly in a traditional, face-to-face, non-distance education format.

Interestingly, VSU and Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) are the only two universities in Eastern Visayas that made it to the top 100 cut.

In the Visayas region, the University of Cebu (UC) also made it to the top ten and obtained 7th place. 

Meanwhile, the consistent top 5 leading universities are the University of the Philippines Diliman (UPD), Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU), De La Salle University (DLSU), University of the Philippines System (UP), and the University of Santo Tomas (UST). 

This commendable UniRank performance of VSU is all because of the collaborative efforts of the University Integrated Media Center (UIMC) and Information and Communication Technologies Management Center (ICTMC), the media and public relations, and the technical administration and maintenance of the official website and social media accounts of VSU.
