The Visayas State University is up by 18 notches climbing from 32nd place now to 14th spot in the October 2021 edition of the Philippine University Rankings conducted by UniRank.
UniRank is a leading international higher education directory and search engine that features the reviews and rankings of over 13,800 officially recognized universities and colleges across 200 countries.
In this edition, 232 higher education institutions in the Philippines were rated based on five web metrics extracted from four different web intelligence sources. These include Moz Domain Authority, Alexa Global Rank, SimilarWeb Global Rank, Majestic Referring Domains, and Majestic Trust Flow.
This means that the UniRank results provide an approximate global and national ranking of universities and colleges based on the school’s web presence and popularity in terms of estimated traffic, trust, authority, and quality link popularity.
This particular ranking mainly aims to present a non-academic league table of the top Philippine universities based on valid, unbiased and non-influenceable web metrics provided by independent web intelligence sources rather than data submitted by the universities themselves.
The University of the Philippines Diliman (UPD) was the top-rated university in the UniRank October 2021 results followed by Ateneo De Manila University (ADMU), University of Santo Tomas (UST), and De La Salle University (DLSU).
For the Visayas region, only University of San Carlos (USC) and Silliman University (SU) were included in the top 10 at 6th and 9th places, respectively.
Interestingly though, only Christ the King College (CKC) in Calbayog City and VSU were the higher education institutions in Eastern Visayas that made it to the top 100 cut.
VSU President Edgardo E. Tulin conveyed his impression on the improved UniRank performance of VSU for this quarter.
“This is great news for all of us Viscans. I see rankings like this one as a way of benchmarking our institutional performance with other equally reputable universities and colleges here in our country. This improvement that we got for the October 2021 edition is quite significant but I hope to see VSU being part of the top 10 very soon. And we will work extra hard to reach this goal,” Dr. Tulin said.
The University Integrated Media Center (UIMC), which is the public relations and media affairs arm of VSU, is in-charge of content development for the VSU website, and the various social media pages maintained by the university.
Meanwhile, the Information and Communication Technologies Management Center (ICTMC) takes care of the technical administration and maintenance of the VSU website, the e-learning portal, and the official social media platforms of VSU.
