#GoingGlobal: VSU grants full time scholarship to 2 foreign students

As part of the university’s strategic plan for internationalization, two foreign students were granted with full time scholarship opportunities this school year.
Officially called the VSU graduate fellowship program for foreign students, this international scholarship grant is mainly implemented by the VSU Graduate School open for Southeast Asian nationals and other foreign students coming from overseas partner universities of VSU.
For its first batch of recipients, Bandana A. Regmi of Nepal and Dini Andalia Dewi of Indonesia qualified for this scholarship program after a rigorous screening process jointly done by the Graduate School and the International Affairs Office (IAO).
They were officially welcomed on September 24, 2021 via a virtual contract signing with their scholarship commencing this school year.
Ms. Regmi of Nepal is a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Forestry in Kathmandu Forestry College under Tribhuvan University in 2018 and is admitted to the Master of Science in Forestry.
On the other hand, Ms. Dewi of Indonesia obtained a Bachelor of Education major in English graduate from Syiah Kuala University in 2013 and is pursuing a Master of Science in Language Teaching.
Both of them will receive free school fees, a monthly stipend of US$400.00 (approximately Php20,000.00), and a thesis dissertation support of US$1,000.00 (Php50,000.00) for masteral and US$2,000.00 (Php100,000.00) for doctoral students.
Applicants to this scholarship program must not be older than 35 years old and must also be admitted to the Graduate School as a new student.
Aside from the graduate fellowship program for foreign students, the VSU Graduate School also offers two other locally-funded scholarships called the graduate teaching assistantship grant for foreign students, and the VSU scholarship program for honor undergraduates.
Eligibility requirements for these scholarship programs are discussed in detail below.
1. Graduate teaching assistantship grant for foreign students
Applicants must come from Asia, United States, Australia, Africa, and Europe that graduated from a reputable institution/university with good scholastic standing.
They must submit a recommendation letter from their former professor along with their transcript of records, certificate of good moral character, proof of english proficiency, and a motivation letter.
Benefits for this program include free school fees, a monthly stipend of Php25,000.00, semestral book allowance worth Php2,500.00, medical insurance worth Php2,000.00, round trip economy plane tickets for Asian grantees while a US$500.00 (roughly Php20,000.00) plane fare subsidy for applicants coming from Europe and the United States.
On top of that, the university will also provide thesis or dissertation support of US$1,000.00 (Php50,000.00) for master’s and US$2,000.00 (Php100,000.00) for doctoral students.
2. VSU scholarship program for honor undergraduates
Applicants of this scholarship must have graduated from VSU with honors within the last 5 years. One must also start as a new student upon application, must not be older than 25 years of age, and must take a graduate program vertically aligned with his/her baccalaureate degree.
Scholars for this program will receive free school fees, a monthly stipend of Php20,000.00, and a thesis support of Php50,000.00.
The first batch of scholars for this program started last school year, and are expected to complete their respective degrees this school year. The pioneering grantees include the following:

- Kathleen B. Valencia - Master of Science in Development Communication
- Mark Mathew A. Auguis - Master of Science in Forestry
- Lendelle Editha G. Cagasan - Master of Science in Agricultural Economics
- Rivah Shane P. Llano - Master of Science in Forestry
- Danica P. Godinez - Master of Science in Development Communication
- Chariss C. Verdida - Master of Management in Business Management
- Jeanie Rose S. Deluza - Master of Science in Development Communication
A total of three grantees were added in this scholarship program for this school year, namely:
- Cristelita E. Boco - Master of Science in Development Communication
- Neriza D. Degorio - Master of Science in Agricultural Economics
- Elenita Mae D. Fernandez - Master of Science in Language Teaching
