VSU student orgs lead awareness campaign on 2017 Envi Week

The Visayas State University (VSU) will kick-off its 2nd Environmental Week with the theme: #RoadtoSustainability: Youth and Nature in Harmony. The week-long campaign activity is centered on the awareness and appreciation of the environment among youth which will run from November 6 to 12, 2017.
One of the highlights of the event is the Youth and the Environment Awareness Forum, targeting on youth empowerment and understanding the role of youth in environmental awareness and responsible consumerism.
The forum will tackle relevant environmental issues and confer practical solutions to address these concerns. This will be held at EB-SHL on November 11.
The College of Forestry and Environmental Science (CFES), with the student-run Chemical Society (ChemSoc), Forestry Students Society (FFS), Organization of Biology Students (OBIOS), Junior Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (JPICE), and the Philippine Society of Agricultural Engineers-VSU Student Council (PSAE-VSUSC), partnered with VSU’s environment enthusiast groups, the Terrestrial and Aquatic Restorations by Students Immersed into Environmental Reforms (TARSIER) and Helpers in Outreaching Mother Earth’s Stability (HOMES) to trailblaze the program.
Among the activities lined-up for the Environmental Week 2017 are: Quiz Show, Trash Art Contest, Yolanda - Candle Lighting, Photography Contest, Green Technology Seminar, and Tree Planting.

Last year’s environmental week was themed: Engineering, Chemistry, and Environmental Management for a Sustainable Future, also spearheaded by course-related groups of Chemistry, Environmental Management, and Agricultural Engineering students.
