Team VSU won gold in a heated Futsal match against the University of the Philippines – Visayas Tacloban Campus (UPVTC), during the 32nd SCUAA games at Naval State University in Biliran, October 26.
VSU Futsal Coach Christan Mikhael Restor said he was ecstatic that the team’s hard work has paid off after a deserved 2-1 victory over UPVTC.
“The best thing about our Futsal players is that they listened [to their coach] and enjoyed the game. [I believe] that’s what made us win the championship” said Restor.
The VSU Futsal Team, Restor said, was only created shortly after the VSU Intramural Games last September 23. With players from different colleges, the team is yet in its infancy, without experience in intercollegiate matches.
Futsal, a modified form of soccer played with five player per side, was included for the first time in the Regional SCUAA games, as was Arnis, the martial arts of the Philippines.
