About the Program

The Department of Agronomy (DA) offers one of the oldest degree programs in VSU. Agronomy was formerly a major under the Bachelor of Science in Education in 1975. In 1979, the program was transferred to become a major in BS Agriculture.

The Department was previously fused with Soil Science forming DASS. It was later on split into two separate departments in 2014, creating the Department of Agronomy or DA, and the Department of Soil Science or DSS.

The DA is handled by 11 regular faculty, 6 affiliate faculty and 6 administrative staff.
