VSUCAT 2025 begins with nearly 14,000 examinees
A total of 13,994 hopefuls will take the test, but only 5,235 will secure admission due to the university’s carrying capacity.
The application period for VSUCAT 2025 opened in a month, from January to February, with thousands of students across the country vying for a chance to join VSU.
The university determines its admission cap based on available resources such as classrooms, faculty, laboratories, and student accommodation to maintain an optimal learning environment. Exceeding this limit could strain facilities and affect the quality of education.
This aligns with the policies set by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), particularly CHED Memorandum Order No. 01 s. 2022, which underscores that student admissions should be based on teacher-student ratios, classroom sizes, and available facilities.
Similarly, the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of Republic Act No. 10931, also known as the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act, provides further guidance on enrolment limits.
Enacted in 2017, the IRR defines “enrollment capacity” as the optimal number of students that can be enrolled in a degree program offered by a higher education institution (HEI) in a given semester or term.
This capacity is determined by the learning objectives, outcomes, and the current carrying capacity of the institution to ensure that admissions align with the available resources and facilities.
As test day approaches, examinees are reminded to bring their email confirmation receipts, valid identification cards, and necessary writing materials. Everyone is also highly encouraged to bring their own water bottles or tumblers as a support to VSU’s vision of becoming a global green university.
Given the unpredictable weather, all examinees should bring umbrellas, raincoats, and stay hydrated. A well-rested mind and body are essential for peak performance during the examination.
