The Liga ng mga Barangay of Baybay City and the City of Baybay, thru the City Rabies Control Committee (CRCC), conducted the 1st City of Baybay Dog Show 2011. This was held at the Veterans' Plaza of Baybay City on December 9, 2011 and was attended by hundreds of dog lovers.

Mr. Loreto P. Godoy, a 1999 BS in Agriculture major in Agronomy graduate of the then ViSCA, now VSU, and a resident of Barangay Can-ipa, Baybay City, Leyte, was awarded the 2011 Most Outstanding Farmer of Baybay City. The award was given during the Opening Program of the Baybay City Agri-Fair on December 16, 2011 held at the Activity Center of Prince-Baybay. As winner, he received a cash prize of P10,000 and a certificate of recognition.

The Office of the Vice President for Research and Extension (OVPRE), in coordination with the Office of the Director for Administration and Human Resource Development, conducted a series of seminars on "Addressing Cancer Risks in the Workplace."

After the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement on the "Integrated and Diversified Program for the Development of the Ormoc-Kananga (OK) Upland Range" between the Visayas State University, the Energy Development Corporation-Leyte Geothermal Production Fields (EDC-LGPF), Partners Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC), National Agribusiness Corporation (NABCOR), and the Department of Agriculture (DA) on December 12, 2011 at the Patio Victoria, San Jose, Tacloban City, the implementation of the Phase 1 of the project valued at 92 million pesos is now in full-throttle for the next five years.

After the 15-day stint at the University of Hohenheim (UH) in Germany for a scientific exchange meeting with some key officials of UH's Center for Agriculture in the Tropics and Subtropics, Dr. Jose L. Bacusmo, VSU President, revealed what transpired during the meeting.

Mr. Jesus Freddy M. Baldos, Administrative Officer V of VSU's Information Office, participated on December 8-10, 2011 in the first ever Global Media Island Convention in the country at the idyllic Boracay Island, the Tourism Island Paradise in the Pacific.

The Graduate School of Biosphere Science of the Hiroshima University (HU) in Higashi-Hiroshima, Japan and the College of Agriculture of the Visayas State University (VSU) in Baybay City, Leyte, Philippines strengthened their partnership with the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on Academic and Educational Exchange between the two universities on December 9, 2011 at the Training Hall of PhilRootcrops.
